The aim of this work is to refer to a role of music in ancient thinking, especially in ancient pythagoreanism in conjunction with their properly elaborated music theory, which includes mathematics, ethics and cosmological conceptions. The life and work of Pythagoras of Samos is described detaily in the first chapter. In following chapters there are some descriptions of pythagorean doctrines and teaching of Pythagoras himself in pythagorean community. There is also an analysis of the central idea of pythagorean philosophy - the number and the music theory in detail
