The purpose of this report is to investigate factors that may impact the productivity and performance of dragline operators in the Australian Coal Industry. Central to the effective operation of the coal mine is the dragline and it is argued that as little as a 1% increase in dragline productivity can potentially generate an additional 700,000 tones of coal. The dragline operators has the most important impact on dragline productivity, however there is relatively little known about Australian dragline operators and factors that may impact on their performance.
