Support for applicants for services under the Social Support Act and their informal carers in 2012

Original title:De ondersteuning van Wmo-aanvragers en hun mantelzorgers in 2012 The main objective of the Social Support Act (Wmo), which came into force in 2007, is to provide support to those who need it to facilitate their participation in Dutch society. They can apply for this support from their local authority. This publication describes the experiences of applicants for Wmo-funded support and of their informal carers. It looks at the application procedure, the support requested and received and the contribution made by the support to their independence and social participation. This study forms part of the second evaluation of the Social Support Act (covering the period 2010-2012) and was carried out at the request of the Dutch Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport. Where possible, comparisons are made with the results of the first evaluation, which covered the period 2007-2009
