Summary Changing care and support for people with disabilities

Original title: Veranderde zorg en ondersteuning voor mensen met een beperking The structure of the long-term care and support system in the Netherlands was changed with effect from 1 January 2015. At the request of the Dutch Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport, the Netherlands Institute for Social Research (SCP) carried out a national evaluation of the reform of the Dutch long-term care system covering the period from 2015 to 2017 inclusive. Several interim reports have been published as part of the evaluation of the Dutch long-term care reforms. This is the overarching final report. In this national evaluation SCP, in partnership with other research institutes, investigated what developments have taken place in care and support in the Netherlands since 1 January 2015 and what the experiences of the various stakeholders (such as care applicants, informal carers, local authorities, care providers, care needs assessors and client support workers) have been over that period. Various methods were used for this, including literature review, surveys, verbal interviews, group discussions, analysis of jurisprudence and analysis of registration data. Our evaluation covers the first years following the introduction of the new system. &nbsp
