Club de tenis, en Gijón

This club was designed so that it could be simultaneously used by about eighty members, and that in exceptional circumstances around three hundred people could be accommodated. Also, its design allows for future extensions. The club provides the following facilities: three tennis courts, and spare room for an additional one, a small swimming pool, a social building and parking space. The social building has a hall, a general lounge, a room for games, a lecture hall and the usual services. The design of this building is based on a modular arrangement, so that there is a general harmony and unity between its various parts, whether these serve the needs of larger groups of people or the more intimate needs of the small groups who normally use the club. It also facilitates the independent furnishing of each module of the building. The modules situated in the centre of the building, with vaulted roofs, are meant to stand out with respect to the others, and provide a more balanced external outline to the project, which is located within an ondulating countryside background. The flooring of the club extends continuously into the terraces outside, and sliding doors thus add to the close integration of the indoor space and the outdoor environment.<br><br>Se proyectó partiendo de que fuese capaz para la asistencia habitual, simultánea., de unos ochenta socios, que en casos excepcionales se pudiesen celebrar en él reuniones hasta de trescientas personas, y se consideraron las posibilidades de un futuro crecimiento. El complejo construido comprende: una zona deportiva, con tres pistas reglamentarias de juego—y espacio de reserva para una pista más—, una pequeña piscina y un edificio social, con su zona de aparcamiento. Esta zona de actividades sociales incluye: recepción, salas de convivencia, bar, sala de juegos, sala de conferencias y aseos. Aparece modulada, lo que permite la totalización espacial en un solo ambiente para actividades de asistencia en gran escala; la fragmentación en áreas de mayor intimidad para la vida cotidiana de la sociedad, y una autonomía en el amueblamiento de cada módulo. Entre los módulos, los centrales cubiertos con bóvedas tienen por misión imprimir una determinada jerarquía al espacio interior, equilibrar la composición de los alzados y buscar una transición con el cielo, y armonizar con el paisaje circundante, de perfil ondulado. Se ha conseguido que el contacto del interior con el exterior no sólo sea visual, sino que, además, se materialice en la continuidad del suelo del edificio, en terrazas, fácilmente accesibles desde el interior mediante puertas correderas
