Sociological Film—Theoretical and Practical Aspects

This article deals with a new concept in visual sociology, the sociological film. It is defined as an autonomous scientific piece of work, which analyses social reality by means of sociological knowledge. Characteristic criteria and a typology of sociological film are presented. Moreover, the process of filming is analysed as a social process, in which the camera exerts influence on the people being taped.
