Chiliasm and reformed eschatology in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries

One of the most discussed and intriguing problems of eschatology is the question whether there is a biblically founded reason for expecting a thousand year reign of Christ at the close of history. It is commonly known as the doctrine of chiliasm or millennialism.
