Perfil e motivação de voluntários para o engajamento no trabalho sem fins lucrativos

Among the various aspects of Evolutionary Psychology, one that has been widely discussed is the study of human cooperation. Historically, some aspects involved in cooperative acts has been clarified, bringing up concepts of kin selection, reciprocal altruism, direct reciprocity and indirect reciprocity, where the latter is defined in cases in which cooperative act will be reciprocated by other individuals who were not present in the previous cooperative relationship, ie is occasioned from the cooperator reputation. From this idea, volunteering (activity that does not include financial benefits to those who performs) can be identified as a measure of cooperation in modern humans and also featured as an important mechanism mediating the reputation of an individual to society. The aim of this study was to characterize the profile and motivation of people involved in volunteer activities, investigating their possible relationships with religiosity and analyzing such parameters as a function of sex, and also compare the parameters investigated in volunteers with no people working in the voluntary. Participated 120 subjects (60 volunteers and 60 non-volunteers), being investigated by questionnaires about their motivations, their personality, their religion and their sociodemographic profiles. Most volunteers have high education, and relates some religious affiliation, and no difference between the motivation of women and men in volunteer engagement was observed. Both religiosity and motivation for volunteering has no significant effect on the duration of nonprofit work. We found that religiosity is not related to the motivation for volunteer work and that only two of the investigated motivational factors (Factor values and Protective Factor) are related to personality traits of voluntary. In the comparison between volunteers and non-volunteers, the results show differences between these two groups, showing that volunteers are more motivated, more religious and have personality traits more likely to engage in volunteering. These results indicate a strong effect of social context on volunteer engagement, and confirms the social, political and economy importance of volunteering to society, and for the volunteers themselves.Dentre as várias vertentes da Psicologia Evolucionista, uma que vem sendo bastante abordada é o estudo da cooperação humana. Alguns aspectos envolvidos em atos cooperativos vêm sendo esclarecidos, trazendo à tona conceitos de Seleção de parentesco, Altruísmo recíproco, Reciprocidade direta e Reciprocidade indireta, no qual este último é definido em casos nos quais o ato cooperativo vai ser retribuído por terceiros, observadores da relação cooperativa anterior, e é apoiada a partir da reputação do cooperador. A partir desta ideia, o voluntariado (atividade que não inclui benefícios financeiros a quem a realiza) pode ser identificado como uma medida moderna da cooperação em humanos e também caracterizado como um importante mecanismo mediador da reputação de um indivíduo. O objetivo deste trabalho foi caracterizar o perfil e a motivação de pessoas envolvidas em atividades voluntárias, investigando suas possíveis relações com a religiosidade e analisando tais parâmetros em função do sexo, e também comparar os parâmetros investigados de voluntários com pessoas não atuantes no voluntariado. Participaram 120 indivíduos (60 voluntários e 60 nãovoluntários), sendo investigados por meio de questionários suas motivações, sua personalidade, sua religiosidade e seu perfil sociodemográfico. A maioria dos voluntários possui alta escolaridade, e relata alguma filiação religiosa, e não foi observada diferença entre a motivação de mulheres e de homens no engajamento voluntário, assim como, tanto a religiosidade quanto a motivação para o voluntariado não apresentaram efeito significativo na duração do trabalho sem fins lucrativos. Verificamos que a religiosidade não está relacionada com a motivação para o trabalho voluntário e que apenas dois dos fatores motivacionais investigados (Fator de valores e o Fator de proteção) estão relacionados com traços da personalidade do voluntário. Na comparação entre voluntários e não-voluntários, os resultados apontam para diferenças entre esses dois grupos, mostrando que os voluntários são mais motivados, religiosos e possuem traços de personalidade mais propensos para o voluntariado. Tais resultados indicam um forte efeito do contexto social perante o engajamento voluntário, e confirma a importância social, econômica e política do voluntariado para a sociedade e para o próprio voluntário
