Shear Behavior of Multilayered Panels for Roofing Rehabilitation

In the last decades, growing interest has been oriented towards the optimization of building components, particularly focussing on qualities such as lightness, structural behavior, thermal insulation and performances during fire. A valuable strategy for the upgrade of industrial buildings might be represented by the substitution of existing roof elements with innovative cement-based multilayered panels. In the framerwork of a research project co-financed by regional authorities, Politecnico di Milano recently proposed a 2.5 x 5 m roof element consisting of a thick polystyrene core embedded into thin layers of fiber-reinforced cement-based materials (Textile Reinforced Concrete and High Performance Fiber Reinforced Concrete). In the proposed paper, particular attention will be devoted to the shear behavior of two full-scale prototypes, presented in terms of experimental, analytical and numerical results
