AbstractSeveral Hypoxis species and infraspecific taxa in southern Africa were found to be conspecific with the taxa described earlier. In this paper, thirteen validly published names are reduced to synonyms. Nine currently recognized taxa out of about 30 species in the Flora of southern Africa region are listed together with their new synonyms and important literature, and a brief discussion is given for each change in name status.
