Currently, an increasing usage of individual heating systems such as heat pumps and solar heat collectors, pose a challenge to the district heating market. However, individual heating technologies together with industrial processes produce excess heat, which can be utilized in district heating. The usage of excess heat can be seen as an opportuni-ty for new business strategies in district heating.
