In this thesis, the light-induced phenomena in azobenzene-containing polymer films are studied. Light-induced phenomena, such as formation of surface-relief gratings and light-induced birefringence, are typical for azobenzene-containing materials and enable a wide range of applications ranging from optical components to telecommunication technology, and beyond. The objective is to enhance these phenomena via local field enhancement of the incident field by adding silver nanoparticles into the azopolymer films. Mie efficiencies for spherical nanoparticles in the used azobenzene-polymer medium are calculated for different sizes.
