1,2-Amino alcohols are a very common structural motif in a range of natural products. These 1,2-amino alcohol containing compounds range from important physiological constituents of human body, like the hormone epinephrine and the amino acid serine, to peculiar secondary metabolites, like amaminol and calyculin, encountered in deep sea creatures. Consequently these molecules display a range of interesting biological responses.
