International audienceIn this work we propose to deal with the problem posed by the "reference" and the "identity" underlying the use of personal pronouns, perceived as "substitutes" or "representatives". In fact, it is commonly considered that the equivalence between a pronoun and its reference is something obvious, both in its discursive and its indexical reference. Very often, usual grammars and dictionaries provide simple inventories of the most well-known uses of pronouns, in addition to some descriptive generalities concerning their functions, without necessarily dwelling on the uses appearing to resist the general explanation and are thus considered as marginal cases.
