Contraception d'urgence : son utilisation par les jeunes

Introduction : Adolescence is a period of uncertainty, the transition between the world of childhood and that of adults, justifies the réalisation of health education sessions. The law of July 4th, 2001 plans for "three annual sessions for health education, in homogeneous age groups France, is one of the countries in Europe that prescribes a high percentage of the oestrogen-progesterone pill. Nevertheless, the rate of use of the emergency contraception for the 15 to 19 age group has increased fourfold in ten years. The main objective of this report is to identify the behavior of the young girls from 15 to 19 years old, regarding the emergency contraception.Tools and methods : The Study is of young girls in Aix-en-Provence, aged between 15 and 19 years old. In full time education at the high school Vauvenargues and at the CAP School of beauty therapy Françoise Morice.Results : This study shows that certain girls took risks with their sexual activity, the risk of unwanted pregnancy but also of sexually transmitted diseases by not using a means of contraception (including the condom). Furthermore, irregular use of the pill was observed with a frequent and increasing use of the emergency contraception. Generally, the girls had a good knowledge regarding contraception methods, with the exception of the maximal deadline for the use of the emergency contraception.Analysis : The pupils would prefer health professionals more in tune with them for the health educational sessions. It is essential to make sure that these sessions during the adolescence are maintained. Even though the access to contraception remains affordable and easily available, in view of the results of the study progress can be made with more advertising campaigns for alternative contraception means such as the intra uterine for nullipares or implant. Furthermore, it would be interesting to be able to identify the habits of the health professionals during consultations for contraception for teenagers and their prescriptions.Conclusion : The emergency contraception remains an effective means to prevent unwanted pregnancies, but its use has to remain exceptional. To limit its excessive use, it is essential to make more available for the young teenagers a means of contraception and more knowledge though sexual education
