Discours sur les migrants de retour de Côte d'Ivoire dans le roman et la chanson burkinabè

International audienceThe way of talking about migrants returning from Ivory Coast has changed throughout the postcolonial period in Burkina Faso. Basing on different kinds of oral or written speeches (particularly written literature and songs), the way a dominant discourse not much favourable to migration has been constructed since the independences of theses states until the war in Ivory Coast (in the beginning of the 2000’s), simultaneously to some important migratory movements between the two countries, is examined here. Speeches about Burkinabe migrations seem to be based on a paradox indeed: whereas the discourses carried by some intellectuals, singers or politics give a depreciating image of the migrants and of their input, the importance of the diaspora and her contribution to economy are real. Finally, only few voices, such as young women songs, seem to give a positive image of this migration.La façon de parler des migrants de retour de Côte d’Ivoire a évolué tout au long de la période postcoloniale au Burkina Faso. En se basant sur différents types de discours oraux et écrits (littérature écrite et chansons notamment), il s’agit d’interroger ici la manière dont un discours dominant peu favorable à la migration s’est construit depuis les Indépendances jusqu’au lendemain de la guerre en Côte d’Ivoire (début des années 2000), parallèlement à des mouvements migratoires toujours importants entre les deux pays. Les discours entourant les migrations burkinabè semblent en effet reposer sur un paradoxe : alors que ceux portés par certains intellectuels, chanteurs ou politiques renvoient une image peu valorisante des migrants et de leur apport, l’importance de la diaspora et sa contribution à l’économie sont bien réelles. Au final, seules de rares voix, telles que les chants de jeunes femmes, semblent renvoyer une image positive de cette migration
