Here the BIODIV module from the Nature Planner is assessed for its application in evaluating different scenarios in the Fifth Policy Document on Spatial Planning (VIJNO), in which the Natural Capital Index (NCI framework) method is used. According to this method the nature value of a region is calculated as a product of ecosystem quantity (acreage) and quality with respect to its difference from the respective reference value. In implementing the NCI method in BIODIV there are several starting points of importance that need to be investigated and used in the VIJNO application related to building and employment.
