Kajian pengendalian mutu minyak kelapa sawit (cpo) pada industri pengolahan kelapa sawit (studi kasus pt. perkebunan mitra ogan provinsi sumatera selatan)

The purpose of this study was (1) to determine the company's program in efforts to improve the quality of CPO throughout the value chain of palm oil processing industry, (2) to analyze the effectiveness of implementation of company’s quality control management to achieve the quality standards of CPO, (3) to identify the factors that affect to the quality of CPO in the value chain of palm oil processing industry (4) to formulate strategies for the enhancement and control the CPO quality to achieve the standards of quality set by the buyer/costumer. The research used case study approach. The study began by identifying the value chain of palm oil processing industry in the PTP Mitra Ogan, from plantations owned by PTP Mitra Ogan as a supplier of TBS up to the buyer/customer of PTP Mitra Ogan’s CPO products. After that, the studies were continued on the application of quality control management of PTP Mitra Ogan in order to produce CPO to comply the quality standards set by the buyer/customer. Factors that affect the CPO quality will be analyzed using Statistical Process Control methods. After that, identify the factors that cause the CPO quality does not comply with quality standards set by palm oil buyers/customers using Cause and Effect Diagram and determine the priority of the strategy to improve and control the quality of CPO based on field observations and interviews with experts. The implementation of CPO’s quality control has not been applied in accordance with procedures established by the company. Based on the analysis of CPO’s quality control, on the analysis of control charts for ALB levels of CPO, it is known that the FFA’s levels of palm oil products of PTP Mitra Ogan has not been able to fit the ALB’s quality standards set by the buyer/costumer about 5%. The results of analysis of cause and effect diagram shows that the factors causing high FFA levels, FFA levels above the quality standards set by the buyer/customer of PTP Mitra Ogan’s CPO, ie material, man, management, machine and method. The strategies on improving and controlling the quality of CPO with the order of priority are: (1) Material, by improving the quality of raw material received by the mill to reduce the amount of leftover fruit., (2) Man, by improving the quality of human resources, (3) Management, by strengthening the commitment to fulfill the vision and mission. Commitment to provide supporting facilities and infrastructures, such as employee welfare, job training, production road service, harvest and transport support equipment such as tractors, graders machinery, then investment on processing machines in the mill, (4) Machinery, through the revitalization of processing machines in the mill, especially screw press, increasing the number of lorries and repair the rail lines (5) Methods, by scheduling weekly evaluations and improving the technology of oil reprocessing from mud and fat pit
