I take up the posttion as editor of Collegian at a time of significant change for nursing. Innovations that have altered forever the face of the health care industry demand different ways of thinking about the clinical and academic future of nursing. The many factors that impact on the large, unwieldy industry that is health, are the factors that also impact upon nursing in all its forms. In addition, the national and international nursing shortage is bringing nursing education and workforce issues to the attention of government.
