Abstract: Este artículo analiza los factores que explican el resurgimiento de la geografía económica y su relevancia para la economía regional y urbana. El eje central del análisis gravita alrededor de dos interrogantes fundamentales ¿Cuáles son los aportes de Krugman que marcan la diferencia con los enfoques tradicionales en el campo de la geografía económica? Y ¿Cuáles son los rasgos distintivos de la Nueva Geografía Económica, NEG?
