This research is organized in two parts, successively composed of the ʺimpressionsʺ and the ʺexpressionsʺ of the city. This partition is not founded on a dichotomy but simply suggests a duality of the lecture of space.<br /><br />The whole is stated into five parts. We first confront the accounts of the city : panoramas, scenes and landscapes, but also analysis and speculations, in order to evaluate their variations and specificities. Then, we get on other forms of the representation of the city, through the egyptian contemporary litterature, presented by portraits of the old city.
