International audienceThe theme of walk in the city occupied the great part of literature of XIXe and the beginning of the XXe century. Today, the figure of the flanor, described by Walter Benjamin, still dominates our representations. But, if walking in the city requires an art of seeing whose flanor remains an accomplished artist, it engages also the body and the senses of the pedestrian. The matter of this article is to reveal this sensory dimension of walk. It is based on a thematic reading of recent work of anthropology, sociology and town planning.
