Electrophoretical observations were conducted on the serum protein fractions of patients with acute and chronic inflammatory diseases, in an attempt to determine the presence of a correlated change with positive polarographic reaction. 1) Generally, total protein concentration does not seem to be altered greatly in pathologic sera. However, a decrease of the albumin fraction with increased α-globulin fraction was noticealbe, while β- and γ-globulin did not indicate any particular change. 2) The above results suggest that a certain correlation, if not quantitative, exists between the positive polarographic reaction and the a-globulin concentration. It may be identical to the finding observed with malignant tumors
