(San Francisco) The San Francisco chapter of the Red Cross describes in an article written by John A. Britton,its chairman, the measures it adopted from the beginning to deal with flu epidemic. A special committee onSpanish influenza was formed to work in conjunction with local, state, and federal health authorities. The initialbudget was $50,000. 'By unanimous vote of his fellow members the chairman was given authority to use it as hisjudgment dictates when confronted by calls for immediate expenditure'.
