Schools Should Not Be Closed - Dowling

• Health officials pressured to close schools as flu cases increase, but Dr. Dowling and other officials believe increase does not warrant such action. Dr. Dowling believes that it is more effective to wear masks and to avoid crowds. Also, believes that peak of outbreak reached.• Dr. Dowling: “There is nothing in the records of the Health Department to indicate that the closing of the schools without other restrictions would have the slightest influence on the general situation.”• Health authorities further ask parents to keep children home when they are believed sick and out of school.
