Flu Snag For Politicians

• Campaign managers at both Democratic and Republican State headquarters were wrestling with an unusual situation yesterday as a result of the influenza epidemic, which may make it necessary to cancel every speaking date during the entire time between now and the November election• As of yesterday there was no certainty that any of the prominent speakers would be permitted to hold meetings, which as matters stand now, would be in violation of the recent order of the State Board of Health• The State Board of Health will meet today to consider whether or not to raise the ban on public meetings in counties where the flu has not made an appearance or where there are only a few cases and the danger of the disease spreading is slight• Leaders of both political parties made it clear that there would be no attempt to hold meetings without the sanction of the State Board of Health• A number of public addresses which had been advertised for the early part of next week were canceled last night when it was learned that influenza had appeared in counties where they had been advertised to take place• Other engagements will be cancelled as evidence of danger appearsNewspaper article1,
