St. John's Seminary Becomes Hospital

• St. John’s Seminary in Brighton has become St. John’s Hospital, which it will be known as during the epidemic• Cardinal O’Connell has turned the big institution over to the State Emergency Committee • It has a capacity of 1000 patients indoors and many times more on the grounds, if it is decided to establish outdoor hospitals there• Dr. William H. Devlin, ex-State Surgeon General and medical director of the Boston School Department has charge• Within 20 hours of opening, Devlin has the facility in shape to admit 25 new patients a day until the capacity of the buildings is reached• Every one of the seminarians who have received directions to go home have offered their volunteer services• The hospital staff is composed of six doctors, nine registered nurses, one schoolteacher doing general utility work and 20 seminarians• More doctors will be assigned tomorrow and it is believed that nurses will be increased to 20Newspaper article
