Aldermen Confer On Influenza Ban

• The new Board of Aldermen met yesterday, and after a 2-hour discussion there was little interest in issuing another closure order• The Board thus adjourned without taking any action• The 2-hour meeting was spent question Chapin and Winslow about the epidemic situation in the city and the schools• Chapin told the Board that it was practically impossible to know the extent of the epidemic because of the widespread failure to report cases by so many physicians• Chapin suggested that the names of noncompliant doctors be published: “’The whole matter of reporting the cases becomes a farce. If we cannot get them all reported, and I would favor publishing the names of the physicians each day in the newspapers who fail to comply with the law.
