Amor traicionero. La reescritura de dos heroínas, Juana la Loca y Malintzin

This essay focuses on the rewriting of the historical narrative regarding two women: Joan the Mad and Malintzin, by two female authors from a feminist perspective. Gioconda Belli and Laura Esquivel suppress the traditional vision which has marked their protagonists utilizing the concept of historiographic metafiction by Linda Hutcheon. History, which for the most part, has been written by men, found these protagonists lacking or unworthy. From the authors’ points of view, these women have transcendental value. For this reason, the authors deemed to rewrite the historical narratives from the perspectives of the heroines themselves in an effort to allow the women to speak for themselves and regain the merit lost to them. The authors demonstrate that history is not complete without all the voices and versions.Desde una perspectiva feminista, este ensayo se enfoca en la reescritura de la narrativa histórica en torno a dos mujeres, Juana la Loca (1479-1555) y Malintzin (c.1496-1529). Gioconda Belli y Laura Esquivel socavan la visión tradicional en que se han enmarcado sus protagonistas a partir de la noción de la metaficción historiográfica propuesta por Linda Hutcheon. La historia –escrita en su mayoría por los hombres– llama a Juana y a Malintzin inadecuadas e impropias, aún peor, sin valor. Sin embargo, desde el punto de vista de las autoras, estas mujeres tienen un valor trascendental y, por eso, se proponen debilitar la tradición y reescribirla desde el punto de vista de una fémina que la reconoce, y se reconoce en esa mujer del pasado, buscando otorgarle voz y el mérito que se le ha negado.
