Methodist Hospital, Lamar Avenue, Memphis, Tennessee, circa 1921. Photographer: Bluff City Engraving Company. Opened in November 1921 on Lamar (1025 E.H. Crump Boulevard) to replace the small Lucy Brinkley Hospital at 855 Union Avenue that Methodist had occupied since 1918, the building was sold to the U.S. Veterans Bureau less than a year later to become Hospital No. 88 to serve the needs of disabled veterans. After Kennedy Military Hospital was built during World War II, the hospital on Lamar became a tuberculosis facility in 1947, and then a teaching hospital in 1957. After various other uses, the building was demolished in 2007.https://digitalcommons.memphis.edu/speccoll-mss-20thcenturyphoto3/1439/thumbnail.jp
