Prospections archéologiques dans l'environnement de Lalibela, Lasta (Archéologie du paysage)

Carnet de recherches - Centre français des études éthiopiennesManon Routhiau is a doctoral student in Archaeology (Traces, University of Toulouse 2 Jean Jaurès – UMR 5608, and Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique, Orient et Méditerranée – UMR 8167). She pursues her research in the framework of a thesis entitled “Rock activity and troglodytic culture in Lalibela and its environment: structuring the territory”, co-directed by Marie-Laure Derat (CNRS, Laboratoire Orient & Méditerranée) and François-Xavier Fauvelle (Collège de France). Following the study of the rocky structures (excluding churches) present in the vicinity of Lalibela, the investigations turned to a more general approach of the landscape by focusing on the occupations in the valley bottoms and the high plateaus, in order to better understand the anthropization of the area. This report is the result of research – limited to Lalibela and its surroundings – carried out in the framework of a research grant awarded by the CFEE in 2020.Manon Routhiau est doctorante en Archéologie (Traces, Université de Toulouse 2 Jean Jaurès – UMR 5608, et Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique, Orient et Méditerranée – UMR 8167). Elle poursuit ses recherches dans le cadre de la préparation d’une thèse intitulée « L’activité rupestre et la culture troglodytique à Lalibela et dans son environnement : structuration du territoire », codirigée par Marie-Laure Derat (CNRS, Laboratoire Orient & Méditerranée) et François-Xavier Fauvelle (Collège de France). Suite à l’étude des structures rupestres (hors églises) présentes dans les environs de Lalibela, les investigations se sont tournées vers une approche plus générale du paysage en s’intéressant aux occupations dans les fonds de vallée et les hauts plateaux, de manière à mieux comprendre l’anthropisation des lieux. Les résultats des prospections pédestres présentées ici résulte d’une mission menée dans le cadre d’une bourse de terrain octroyée par le CFEE en 2020
