ANGLICISMS IN CROATIAN IN THE FIELD OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY

This thesis deals with the topic of borrowing, which is one of the topics within contact linguistics. Borrowing is the process of taking words from one language into another. The thesis covers the theoretical background of contact linguistics, followed by many terms related to borrowing, and classifications formed by many linguists. Specifically, the thesis delves into the borrowing English words into the Croatian language. There are various fields influenced by the process of borrowing and therefore the focus is on information technology. The analysis of IT-related terminology is conducted to prove the presence of Anglicisms in the Croatian language.Ovaj rad bavi se tematikom jezičnog posuđivanja, koja je jedna od tema unutar lingvistike jezičnih dodira. Jezično posuđivanje je proces preuzimanja riječi iz jednog jezika u drugi. Rad obuhvaća teorijsku pozadinu lingvistike jezičnih dodira, nakon čega slijede mnogi termini povezani s posuđivanjem i klasifikacijama koje su oblikovali mnogi lingvisti. Točnije, ovaj se rad bavi posuđivanjem engleskih riječi u hrvatski jezik. Postoje različita područja pod utjecajem procesa posuđivanja i stoga je fokus na računarstvu (IT). Analiza riječi u IT-u provodi se kako bi se dokazala prisutnost anglicizama u hrvatskom jeziku
