Evaluation of the effects of vaccination against avian coccidiosis on the parameters productive in chicken/Evaluación del efecto de la vacunación contra coccidiosis aviar sobre parámetros productivos en pollos de engorde

Coccidiosis is a disease distributed worldwide, caused by a protozoan of the genera Eimeria. It produces high economic losses in the poultry industry, so the application of vaccination programs is an alternative for the control of the illness. In this assay, chicken were vaccinated at 10 days of age with the food, with two types of vaccines: Vaccine 1: Constituted by viable oocyst of E. tenella, E. maxima, E. acervulin, E. Necatrix, E. mivati and E. Brunatti. Vaccine II: Constituted by viable oocyst of E. tenella, E. maxima, E. mivati and E. acervulina. Twenty five days post vaccination all birds were challenged with two inocula types : the first consisted by 50.000 oocysts, and the second by 100.000 oocysts of the most frequent Eimeria species in the country. The chicken were placed at random number of 16 by group for a total of 7 treatments with 4 repetition. It was evaluated weight gain, food consumption, and nutritional conversion of chickens, to determine the effect of vaccination of against coccidiosis. The data obtained were analyzed by variance analysis. No significant differences were found among the vaccinated groups, and between these groups and the control group not vaccinated challenged for weekly weights and for accumulated food consumption. The results obtained about the weight gain and the nutritional conversion, there were significant differences (P<0,05) among the vaccinated groups, the healthy control, and the not vaccinate-challenged control. It is concludy that the vaccination does not have negative effects in the productive parameters of the chickens. RESUMEN La coccidiosis es una enfermedad distribuida ampliamente en el país, causada por un protozoario del genero Eimeria, el cual produce grandes pérdidas económicas en avicultura. De allí, la importancia de la aplicación de programas de vacunación como una alternativa para el control de esta enfermedad. En este ensayo se vacunaron aves a los 10 días de edad en el alimento, con dos tipos de vacunas: a) Vacuna I: Constituida por oocystos viables de E. tenella, E. maxima, E. acervulina, E. necatrix, E. mivati, E. brunetti; b) Vacuna II: Elaborada con oocystos viables de E. tenella; E. maxima, E. mivati, y E. acervulina. Después de 25 días post-vacunación, las aves fueron desafiadas según su grupo de tratamiento con dos tipos de inóculos: el 1ro conteniendo 50.000 oocystos (5.000 de E. tenella y 45.000 de una mezcla de E. acervulina, E. mivati, E. maxima, E. Necatrix y E. brunetti) y, el 2do por 100.000 oocystos (10.000 de E. tenella y 90.000 de una mezcla de E. acervulina, E. mivati, E. maxima, E. necatrix y E. brunetti) . Las aves se colocaron al azar en número de 16 por grupo para un total de 7 tratamientos con 4 réplicas cada uno. A todos los grupos se les suministró alimento desprovisto de anticoccidiales, con los requerimientos nutritivos según la edad de los pollos. Se evalúo la ganancia de peso, el consumo de alimento y la conversión alimenticia. Los datos recabados fueron analizados mediante análisis de varianza. No se detectaron diferencias significativas (P>0,05) entre los grupos vacunados, el grupo control no vacunado – desafiado y el control sano en los pesos semanales y en el consumo acumulado de alimento.
