The PM10 concentrations in the National Air Quality Monitoring Network in the Netherlands are measured with FAG-Eberline 62 I-N beta-attenuation monitors. Previous measurements revealed this monitor to be underestimated with respect to the EU reference method for PM10. Since then, all measured PM10 concentrations have been multiplied by 1.33, a factor that to date has not been explained. The semi-volatile (ammonium) aerosol was thought to be an important factor. Three beta-dust monitors were investigated in addition to the Monitoring Network at the agricultural site of Biest-Houtakker.
