Add to ORKG同時代に造られた鹿鳴館が貴族の代表的建築とするなら､凌雲閣は庶民を代表する建物だった｡高層建築のない東京にあって､縦位置で写真の撮れる数少ない建物であった｡大池に写った姿を取り込み､風景では珍しい縦位置の写真となっている｡凌雲閣は大正12年(1923)9月1日の関東大震災で中層から上が崩れ落ち解体された｡明治23年(1890)10月竣工から間もない頃の写真｡While Rokumeikan, built around the same time, is a representative building of the nobility, Ryounkaku was a building for the common people. At a time when tall buildings were all but nonexistent in Tokyo, it was one of the few portrayed by photographers in vertical composition. This photograph provides a rare view of Ryounkaku reflected in Oike Pond. The top half of Ryounkaku was destroyed in the Great Earthquake of 1923 and the rest of the building was later demolished. This is Ryounkaku soon after its completion in October 1890
