The article presents results of a study conducted on the websites of the world’s top 10 universities according to the QS World University Rankings 2013. The aim of the study was to examine the use of Web 2.0 technologies on their libraries’ websites. The research involved analysis of tools that enable and improve communication with users. Tools such as discussion forums, RSS channels, social networks (Facebook, Twitter), blogging instant messengers etc. were examined. Then, it was analysed to what extent these libraries make use of Web 2.0 technologies and for what purposes.
