Hirtz, flowered in cultivation in Quito, 18 Mar 1985, Hirtz 2245 (holotype: MO!). Distribution: — Ecuador, Peru. Notes:— This proliferous species with purplish flowers is similar to the also proliferous M. scandens and the nonproliferous M. antennifer.
