Lucerne School of Engineering and Architecture is testing five market-ready PEM fuel cell based backup systems for communication infrastructures in Switzerland. All systems are installed in the field. They work in a power range from 2 to 6 Kilowatt. Hydrogen is supplied by 50 liter pressure cylinders at 200 bar. During a testing period of two years, remotely triggered grid failures were performed on a regular basis. In accordance with end user demands there are different operational concepts.
