Design Development Trends of Post-industrial Society

The purpose of the research is to conceptualize the evolution and development trends of contemporary design within a post-industrial society defining the impact-factors of new functions and directions development of design creativity. The research methodology. To analyse the development trends of design, a systematic approach was applied, based on the concept of multidisciplinary of design creativity. This approach allows combining elements of comparative, critical, historiographical, terminological and content analysis with the decomposition method of complex processes on a common methodological platform. The scientific novelty of the study is to identify how digitization impacts on design progressing. The impact-factors influence of digitization on the formation of design trends was divided into groups of social, artistic, aesthetic and utilitarian-technological origin. The dynamic of design evolution was analysed at the initial, mature digital and post-digital stages of the information society development. An approach to managing the loyalty of digital intelligence in “human - digital intelligence” tandem was proposed. Conclusions. For the first time the features of the influence of disruptive digitization technologies on the emergence of new directions of design creativity are elucidated. It is shown that the influence of social factors on the contemporary design development trends is manifested in the form of expanding the “action zones” of traditional areas of design creativity. Factors of art-aesthetic nature stimulate the expansion of the designer’s imagination horizons through the synthesis of arts and the use of augmented /virtual reality elements, and factors of a utilitarian-technological nature, due to the merger of various fields of knowledge, technology, and art, ensured the implementation of “previously impossible” technological operations in contemporary design. To bridge the traditional problem – the permanent “digital gap” between curricula and market requirements, traditional educational institutions requires to modify the designers training model with a focus on theory and practice integration in-situ design projects
