Blaeria ericoides Linnaeus, Species Plantarum 1: 112. 1753. "Habitat ad Cap. b. Spei." RCN: 916. Lectotype (Oliver in Jarvis & al, Regnum Veg. 127: 25. 1993): Herb. Hermann 4: 61, lower right specimen "Blaeria Hort, cliff. 471" (BM-000628310). Generitype of Blaeria Linnaeus. Current name: Erica ericoides (L.) E.G.H. Oliv. (Ericaceae). Note: The material designated as the type by Oliver, though in Paul Hermann’s herbarium, was not from Ceylon and so did not feature in Linnaeus’ Flora Zeylanica (1747).
