Gerbillus muriculus Thomas and Hinton, 1923. Proc. Zool. Soc. Lond., 1923:263. TYPE LOCALITY: Sudan, Darfur, 80 mi. (129 km) northeast of El Fasher, Madu. DISTRIBUTION: Darfur (Sudan). COMMENT: Petter, 1975, Part 6.3: 10, included this species in nanus, but on page 12 listed it as a distinct species. Corbet and Hill, 1980:164, listed muriculus as a distinct species, as do DLH and DML. DML includes muriculus in genus Dipodillus; but see comment under Gerbillus.
