Performance comparison of MySQL and PostgreSQL

Micro-services architecture is becoming an increasingly popular choice for e-commerce systems to handle global-scaled transactions due to its ability to independently scale only the heavy-traffic services, thus improving performance while reducing server costs. Additionally, a stateless architecture is employed to further enhance the scalability of each individual service. While a stateless application does not store session-specific state within the application itself, the data stored and managed in a database is fundamental to its functioning. Thus, database performance is crucial for computer scientists in engineering stateless applications, especially since its performance cannot be improved with application code optimization.
