Response data from part B of the second online survey of the *metrics-project. Main goal of the survey was to determine researchers' motivations for using various social media platforms that are potential sources for altmetrics, as well as inquiring about their perceptions of various metrics for research evaluation. During dissemination, a strong focus lay on researchers from social sciences and economics. The questionnaire had originally been implemented in LimeSurvey. Dissemination started on 25 June 2018; the survey was finally taken offline on 13 February 2019. The call for participation was disseminated via a combination of direct non-personalized mails and mailing lists. A total of ~27,000 recipients has been targeted this way
