Response data from the first online survey of the *metrics-project. Aim of the survey was to determine the status quo of online platform usage by researchers, with a strong focus lying on researchers from social sciences and economics. The questionnaire had originally been implemented in LimeSurvey. Dissemination started on 31 March 2017; the survey was finally taken offline on 13 February 2019. The call for participation was disseminated via a combination of direct personalized mails (containing recipients' first and surnames), direct non-personalized mails and mailing lists (see "Are There Different Types of Online Research Impact?" by Lemke, Mehrazar, Mazarakis, & Peters [2018] for further details).
