Summary This article is devoted to the issue of the process of implementing the idea of distance learning through information and communication technologies that can be used anywhe-re in the educational space, including in penitentiary institutions. The most important condition for the training of convicts is external factors in the creation of indicative bases for the use of IT. The factors that determine the success of training are always associated with the content and form of educational activity. First of all, we are talking about the design and formation of the computer literacy of the convicts. The article reveals the main directions and tasks of creating and developing a single information educational space, promising directions for the development of the education system, namely the widespread introduction of distance learning and self-education methods, the need to develop psychological and pedagogical support for the use of information technologies at all levels of education.
