The publication of the corpus of the inscriptions of Beroia, followed by that of the sanctuary of Leukopetra, has put at our disposal a complete documentation of the languages written in the capital of the macedonian koinon during the Roman period. The resulting impression is not much different from that which one gets from most of the cities of the Greek peninsula. The predominance of Greek is nearly absolute and the use of Latin is restricted to a few special categories of documents. Nevertheless, one should note the increase in use of Latin during the Late Empire. No less interesting is the influence of Latin on the vocabulary and syntax of Greek, a question to which I shall devote particular attention.La publication du corpus des inscri...
