The order of the Gospels has not always been the one which we know today. Updating of available data (12 différent orders) shows that the grouping together of the Gospels -first of ail copied individually - by twos or even by threes took place progressively in different places and at different times. It would be hazardous to présume that the grouping together of the four Gospels in one codex had already taken place in the 2nd century (P64 + P67 + P4). The theological assertion according to which the one and only Gospel of Christ is given in the four Gospels largely précèdes the date when it had become possible to group them together in one codex dur- ing the 3rd century.Bogaert Pierre-Maurice.
