This article deals with the topic of the book and of writing in the targums of the Pentateuch. It presents the results of a lexicographical and thematic investigation carried out on the Palestinian version of those targums (Neofiti and Pseudo-Jonathan). The first part deals with how the targumist himself views his work as a translator, the second one tries to show the importance of the references to written or on engraved elements such as Moses' rod : such items usually bear the name of Yahweh, or refer to some of his deeds. The book's topic appears to be a minor one.
