This theoretical essay aims to discuss and conceptually articulate Physical Education (PE) teaching presuppositions developed under the knowledge multidimensionality premise, connected with the perspective of a republican and democratic education. The text thematizes some aspects that can be considered decisive to realize this objective, emphasizing the multidimensionality of knowledge and the contents subdimensions, which constitute PE teaching background; educational praxis as a teaching perspective; teaching processes being accompanied by a communicative didactic; research as a pedagogical principle; and didactic-pedagogical process structuring in didactic units.
