The aim of this article is to characterize the climatic conditions of torrentiality in Provence during the Little Ice Age. The study is based on chronicles of floods and overflowings of the sub-alpine torrents (the Ubaye valley in particular) and on instrumental measures of rainfalls in Marseilles. Several periods marked by frequent floods in the Durancian hydrosystem follow periods of relative tranquillity.
